The "Ball" is in the Other Court

Warning:  This post might not be appropriate for children under the age of 13, as I have a many immature comments about "balls."

The big day was this past Friday...we took Diesel to the vet at 7am...and he had a "ball!"  Oh no wait...he lost 2 "balls,"...a.k.a he got NUETERED.  That's right...no more "balls" for Diesel.  I meant to write this post on Saturday, but I guess I dropped the "balls."  Ha ha!  Alright, that's all for my childish "ball" jokes.

Anyway, of course, Diesel did excellent during his surgery and the nurse said he woke up wagging his tail.  What a guy, huh?  When we brought him home he was a bit groggy still, but he slept it off and by that evening, he was back to his normal self.

Shortly after he got home.

We did have a slight "issue" with his Buster collar though.  That's the cone-like collar that prevents animals from licking their incision.  Well, Diesel is not a fan of his Buster collar and I put it on him once we got home because he was trying to chew off his pressure bandage (from the IV).  First of all, once I put it on, he would barely move a muscle and just sat their frozen.  Secondly, I had to put the collar on him for about 2 hours, until we could take the bandage off and he whined and whined for about 30 minutes before he fell asleep.  We're supposed to put the collar on him while he's alone and we keep it on him while he's sleeping.  He's gotten a lot better with it over the past few days, but it's definitely not his favorite thing in the world.

Recovering with Jerm.

I think he felt a connection to our satellite dish.

Diesel is 100% back to normal and he's realizing that if he comes close to licking his incision, he'll get the Buster collar on, which is no fun.  The only thing that we're finding difficult is that he's suppose to "take it easy" for the next 12 - 14 days, and he simply doesn't understand that.  However, we're working with him on not jumping and to take it easy in when he plays, plus walks are on hold until he's completely healed.  So, he's doing great and as for recovery goes...he's really on the "ball."  Ha ha!  Alright...now I'm done.

New Moon Trailer

Here is just a quick post because I'm so excited!  Besides Harry Potter, one of my other favorite book series is the Twilight Saga.  Well, the books are being made into movies and I FINALLY watched the first one, Twilight, just the other day (it's about time, right?).  It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but just because I love the books, I automatically liked the movie.  Anyway, the second movie comes out in November and the new preview was just released.  It looks great...can't wait for November! :)

Growing Like a Weed

Hello all!  Nothing too new on the Jeremy & Sara front, but just an update on our little guy.   As usual, Diesel is growing faster than ever imaginable and he's tipping the scale at 48lbs.

100_1184IMG_1620

10 weeks old and 16 weeks old.

Also, he's discovered a new talent of tearing up toys left and right.  This past Saturday, Jeremy and I went to buy Diesel a few new toys because he ate through  three old ones in one day.  So far his total stats of toys  destroyed is: 3 tennis balls, 1 fuzzy  squeaker, 1 rubber tire and 1 stuffed puppy.  When we went Petsmart to get new toys, we immediately went looking for the stronger and bigger toys.  We ended up getting him a new tire (which is HUGE, but it says it's for dogs 50lbs+) and a big, fuzzy and squeaky camel.  The toys are huge when you compare them to his old ones (see pics below), but I'm sad to say that within 45 minutes of us giving Diesel the camel...he was pulling stuffing out of it.  I've stitched it up twice already, but I think the camel is going to be joining the list of deceased toys soon.  UGH!  Jeremy is currently looking up "indestructible dog toys" online.

Old tire at 10 weeks, and the new one at 16 weeks.

Old, little puppy (who Diesel ripped a hole in its face) and new, huge camel.

Oh well, at least he likes the new toys.

Our Son's New Friends

Alright, sorry for the delay in posting everyone!  I've been...well, busy...ok, so I've really just been lazy.  Sue me!

Last week, we went over to Jayla's house for dinner, dessert and puppy play time.  Jayla made a delicious dinner of chicken kabobs, kielbasa and fresh fruit.  Dessert was provided by yours truly, but you'll have to visit my cooking blog, Sara's Sweets, to see what I brought. :)

We were really excited to go over to their house because we wanted Diesel to meet Jayla's two dogs: Nico and Alfie.  Nico is a mellow, 115+lbs Neapolitan Mastiff and Alfie is a fun loving, 90lb St. Bernard mix.  Jerm and I were curious to see how Diesel would interact with two dogs that large and wouldn't you know it...it didn't really phase him.  He was a bit intimidated by both of them at first, but soon enough, Alfie was playing with Diesel and a fun evening was had by all.

The dogs played rough for awhile, Diesel went potty outside in the yard (and in the house...sorry guys!), the big dogs chased him and he'd seek refuge under the patio table, they all rolled around in the dirt and Diesel decided to lay down in a dirty puddle.  Awesome!

Good boy, Diesel.  You lay down in that dirty puddle.  NOT!

Of course, we had a great time hanging with Jayla (we always do) but Diesel had an AWESOME time!!  He was exhausted and absolutely filthy when we got him home.  He went straight into the bathtub (because when you'd pat his back, a puff of dirt would come up) and then to bed.

Thanks for a fun night, Jayla!  Diesel has already asked when he can go back and play with the boys. :)

Wanted for Murder and Breaking & Entering

IMG_1558

Don’t trust the innocence of this face, ladies and gentlemen!  This puppy is armed and dangerous.  Diesel Bofferding is wanted for the malicious murder of 3 plants and breaking through the baby gate to ransack the 2nd floor of our home!  Diesel, how do you plea?

 untitled

So, I was at work last week when Jeremy called me and said, “Our son figured out how to get upstairs.”  “What?  How?,” I said to him.  Well, first let me give you a bit of background.  We have the upstairs of our house blocked off by a baby gate.  All the carpet in our house is brand new and the upstairs isn’t “puppy proofed,” so having Diesel up there is a no-no.  The crime occurred when apparently Jerm thought that Diesel was napping in the living room.  Not being needed to play or supervise Diesel, he went into the office to do some stuff.  All of a sudden, he heard a loud noise and the sound of little feet running upstairs.  Wondering what the heck it was, he jumped up and found the baby gate knocked over and Diesel running upstairs!!  Once he made it upstairs he didn’t do anything bad, he just explored a bit…but it was still a crime!  Here are pictures from the crime scene:

IMG_1559 IMG_1560

As for the murder violation, Diesel loves our plants in the backyard.  When we first got him, there were 8 plants total…but now we’re down to 6 and he’s working hard to eliminate another.  Plants are just the start of things…I won’t even go into how he likes to chew/eat the rocks.  Dang you, Arizona and your desert landscaping.  Note: Jerm and I are now working on re-landscaping, putting in grass and eliminating all plants on the ground.  Here are pictures from that crime scene:

Who needs a gardener, when we have Diesel?

IMG_1567

What?  I didn’t do anything!

IMG_1566

Yummy, plant.

Besides being wanted for crime, Diesel has continued to grow like crazy.  As of this weekend, he was 41 lbs…tomorrow, he might be 50…who knows?!  In additional Diesel news:

  • We registered him with the American Kennel Club (AKC), since he’s a purebred, and his “official” name is: Sir Diesel Von Chocolate.  Cute, huh?
  • We’re taking him over the Jayla’s house tonight to meet Nico and Alfie.  It should be interesting to see how Diesel handles a 115+ Neapolitan Mastiff and a 100+ St. Bernard mix.
  • He lost his first tooth last night!  It was his left, teenie, tiny front one.  Oh, *tear* they grow up so fast, don’t they? :)

In additional, Jeremy and Sara news:

  • We’re having Paul, Julie and baby Thomas over for dinner tomorrow night.  Yay!  They haven’t seen our new house yet and we haven’t hung out in ages.
  • Two years ago today, Jeremy proposed to me at Disneyland!!  (awww, I’m such a sap!)
  • It’s almost my birthday!!  I have two more days until I’m past 25 and heading to 26!

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day!  Yay!  To those special mother's in the lives of Sara and Jeremy, we love you all and hope you had a great day.  Happy Mother's Day, Mom/Gretchen!  Happy Mother's Day, Gran!  Happy Mother's Day, Belinda/Mom!  And Happy Mother's Day, Leda/Grandma!

Apparently, since we have Diesel now, I'm considered a "mother" now.  I'm not really sure that having a doggie qualifies as being a "mom," but apparently, Diesel did.  That sweet little guy (with the help of Jerm, of course) got me a Mother's Day card!

IMG_1570IMG_1569

Bringing me my card.

The card had an outline of Diesel's paw and it read:

Mom, Happy 1st Mother's Day.  In my 5 weeks and 1 day here, I have loved it.  I want to learn, and grow, and play.  Sorry for the messes, in advance.  I love you!  Diesel

SO cute!  Happy Mother's Day everyone!!

What about Diesel?

This post is for my mom...everyday she asks me, "How come you haven't posted about Diesel lately?"  Alright Mom, here you go!  So, Diesel is doing absolutely fabulous and he is growing before our very eyes.  We weighted him yesterday and the big guy tipped the scale at 37.2 lbs!!  Can you believe it?  He's gained 4lbs in the past week!!  Wow.  In fact, some days, when I get home from work, he even looks bigger than he did in the morning when I left!

Besides growing constantly, he has torn up the matting under our bed (we finally gave up trying to stop him, since he found away around the barrier my dad made and we figure in another week, he won't be able to fit under there anyway), is still very much amused by the door stoppers in the club and seems to have the good understanding of going potty (both #1 and #2) outside.  Plus, we've begun to give him brief, supervised time in our closet and he loves to hide under my clothes!  Here are some new pictures of our boy.  Enjoy!

Hmmm, who's paws could those be?

I was changing the sheets and this is what I found on the other side of the bed.

If I sit on the floor, he comes and sits in my lap.  That'll be awesome when he's 90lbs!

Harry Potter Update

Alright, so I've been so preoccupied with Diesel that I failed to post information on the new Harry Potter movie!  Sara, what were you thinking?  How could you forget about Harry Potter?!  Well, there's no need to worry because I've now caught up on the news about the movie.  Below is the final trailer for the movie and I know I've said it before, but I AM SO EXCITED.  The movie comes out on July 15th.  As usual, I'm spreading my joy for HP, so please enjoy the trailer below and a few of the new movie posters!
